June 1, 2023d/FEAT President Kyne Marshall helps clients recover, investigate, and authenticate digital evidence for criminal and civil court cases. Now he has expanded his digital forensics firm’s services to offer IT infrastructure and support services.
Kyne’s IT solutions help clients efficiently and effectively use technology to achieve their business goals and improve their performance. If you have computer or IT network issues, he can help.
He got the idea to offer IT consulting after seeing the positive difference his work made as he helped partner firm Berry-Waltz Investigations (BWI) resolve issues they had with a different IT provider.
Properly Working Technology is Critical to Business Operations
“IT service is vital to BWI’s business because all of our employees work remotely, and we rely on a virtual private network to link each other to our work product,” explains BWI Founder Rick Berry, who oversees BWI business and financial operations.
“Prior to using d/FEAT, we used another provider for IT services and document backup. During that time, we had constant problems maintaining a network link; the other provider’s response to these outages was extremely slow,” Rick says. “This caused major problems because we couldn’t access our work product during those outages.
“Since switching to d/FEAT in fall 2019, we seldom have issues with network connectivity,” Rick says. “Whenever an issue arises, d/FEAT handles it quickly and professionally. Kyne Marshall, President of d/FEAT, evaluated our IT needs and implemented a plan to correct our deficiencies and upgrade our hardware. The IT service we received from d/FEAT was one of the reasons we decided to partner with them,” Rick says.
BWI and d/FEAT’s Professional Partnership
BWI partnered with Digital Forensics Expertise and Technology (d/FEAT) to expand BWI’s private investigative capabilities to all things high-tech. BWI and d/FEAT offer comprehensive digital forensic investigations for electronic evidence from cell phones, cell towers, security (and other) cameras, video, cloud, and computer data.
d/FEAT now also helps clients with comprehensive IT tech support. Kyne’s current IT clients include small law firms with 10 to 15 employees; he provides network maintenance, network storage, security gateways, and general Windows support or upgrade services for them.
d/FEAT’s IT Services Provide Vital Support for Law Firms
The law firms have personnel who office in different cities or work remotely, and they need constant connectivity with each other and their work product.
“I offer 24/7 support, so you can call me with any IT problem, and I can remote into your computer to fix whatever you need me to,” Kyne says. “My clients also receive large amounts of digital evidence and sometimes the files won’t play – so I can help with converting video files or audio files so they can watch or hear them.”
Kyne helped Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett, a growing family law practice, resolve issues that the associates were having maintaining office-wide WiFi connectivity. The associates also needed centralized cloud storage, online file backup, remote VPN access, and improved connectivity between their Nashville and Franklin offices. They had been using a different IT provider but realized that provider was using outdated technology that no longer served their needs.
After Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett hired Kyne Marshall of d/FEAT to resolve all their IT issues, he immediately went to work, providing cost-effective solutions that included:
- Security gateways and network infrastructure
- UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) system
- WiFi access points
- Network-attached storage (for storage of all client data)
- Security cameras (in Nashville office)
- Online backup
- Installation of upgraded workstations (in Franklin office)
- Creation of a new website, cpgfamilylaw.com
Kyne not only provided comprehensive solutions for the team at Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett, but he also trained their team on the new technology. The associates have retained him to provide ongoing, 24/7 tech support in the event anyone has an issue.
“I had a great experience with Kyne working with us on our technology needs,” says David Garrett, one of the owners of Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett. “He met with us, helped determine our needs, designed and installed the server system, and then has provided exceptional service to make sure the transition was flawless.”
